  • Numerous job opportunities in Dubai and other parts of the United Arab Emirates have put the country on the front burner when issue of job seeking abroad or relocation is being mentioned. Skilled and unskilled personnel are seeking a greener pasture by choosing to work and live in Dubai or any part of the UAE.

With the constant influx of people seeking employment in the Dubai and UAE as a whole, government keeps changing things to ensure their approach in handling things works for the benefit of all.
Currently, if you have been employed or issued an employment visa by any company in Dubai or UAE as a whole, it is very important for you to note some keys steps to be taken in completing the process from your home country before you embark on the journey.

Initially, one could fly with and electronic visa sent by the company. All that was needed back then was to print it out and get a one way ticket down to the UAE.
However, starting from the first quarter of this year 2018, things have changed and all employment and some types of tourist visas needs to be completed in home country before leaving for the UAE.

Now pay attention, for any employment visa sent by your employer to you here in Nigeria, you’ll have to come to the UAE Embassy or Visa center in Abuja to complete the process.

Note: I am writing this because a lot of people are getting their visas cancelled because they lack accurate and timing information as to what steps to take. Once your visa is more than 45 days after issuance and you have not visited the UAE embassy or Visa center in Abuja to initiate the process of getting it stamped on your international passport, just forget about the visa because it’s gone.

For employment or work visa to be stamped on your international passport, you must follow the steps outlined below:

    1. First thing to do is confirm your employment visa to know the state it is with the UAE embassy embassy here in Nigeria.
    2. Attest your educational documents from appropriate quarters and get them ready before your bio-metrics. You can check how to attest your documents here
    3. If you are planning to go to the UAE with wife and children, you’ll attest your marriage certificate and birth certificates of your children.
    4. You will go for an extensive medical test at the accredited hospitals used by the UAE embassy Abuja to get your medical report.
    5. After the medical test report is issued, you will attest the report at the UAE embassy in Abuja.

Once you are through with all steps stated above, you will then book for an appointment for biometrics. This is currently done via a whatsapp number - 08187915000

Get the locations and prices of the accredited hospitals for the medical test below:

    Garki Hospital
Tafawa Balewa Way, Area 3, Garki District, PMB 656, Garki Abuja
    Price : #37,000
The test would be ready within a week.

    Nigerian-Turkish Nizamiye Hospital
Plot 133 sector S, Cadastral Zone, Life Camp, Abuja
    Price: #73,000
The test would be ready within 24hrs.

To book for an appointment at the UAE embassy in Abuja through the whatsapp number, you will send the following:
    • Scan copy of your Visa slip
    • Your name as written on your international passport
    • Passport number
    • Phone number
    • Visa issue date
    For example:
SCANNED COPY OF THE VISA SLIP (IMAGE/PDF)
    NAME: TY-MIKE
    PASSPORT NO: 123456789
    PHONE: 08185933265
    VISA ISSUE DATE: 01/07/2018

After this is done, a reply would be given with appointment date, ID number and your passport number.
Note: If you find it difficult booking appointment, contact us for help in facilitating a quick response.

Once your appointment for bio-metrics is given, you work towards the date. Ensure you arrive Abuja a day before your appointment date and be at the UAE embassy first thing in the morning. I’ll say you should be there between 6am/7am because the crowd is always massive and the earlier you come the better your chances of being quickly attended to.

    Things to bring along are:
Your international passport which should be valid for 6 months or more from the date you intend to travel
A print out of appointment given to you on whatsapp
Copy of the invitation or visa application sent to you by your company or employer in the UAE
Biometric data payment which is as of the time of writing this article NGN30,000
Ensure you go with your card for payment at the embassy.
If you have MASTERCARD with the following banks, you are good to go with your visa fee payment right in the embassy.
    • Ecobank
    • Sterling Bank
    • First Bank
    • UBA
    • Fidelity Bank
    • Zenith Bank
If you have VISA CARD with the following banks, you are also good to go with the visa fee payment.
    • Access Bank
    • UBA
    • Fidelity Bank

Note: For now, the above listed banks are the ones going through. If you go there and your card fails to go through, you might be asked to make deposit to their bank which means you can’t get your biometrics done that day again and in some cases, you might have to go and book another appointment.

After your biometrics must have been successfully done, you need to wait for another 72hrs for the embassy to send your enrolment to the UAE before your visa would now be sent back and printed on your international passport.

    Warning!!!
These simple steps above can take eternity if you are not very careful. So, don’t waste time at all. Immediately your visa application is sent by your company, swing into action right away because it will start counting from the day your application is submitted and once it is 45 days, the UAE embassy or Visa center in Abuja here will tell you your visa has been cancelled.

I hope this helps someone. Thanks for reading and don’t forget to share this with the social buttons below. Your comments are welcomed too.

You are welcome. Things are better and easier right now at the embassy because people can now process either an electronic visa (which does not involve visiting the embassy) or the one that involves visiting the embassy. Naturally, a higher percentage of applicants prefer the electronic visa which reduces the number of people visiting the UAE embassy in Abuja for Visa processing.
